Ed Roth's Shop Truck

Ed Roth's Shop Truck

Ed Roth is shown striping the flames he painted on his newly purchased Ford pick-up.

After finding Ed Roth’s original truck in a barn, Galpin Ford photographed it before a total and accurate restoration.  Note that part of the front grill still has some of Roth’s original paint on it.

Ed Roth’s truck is shown just after being restored by Galpin Ford.

As his fame as a pinstriper and painter began to emerge during the 1950’s, Ed Roth purchased a brand new Ford Pick-up truck to use as a way to advertise his business.  Roth painted his new new truck pearl white with distinctive red flames.  The cover over the bed was finished with one of his earliest “weirdo” face designs, an idea he successfully turned into a million dollar business for himself.  After a few years, Roth sold this truck to someone in the Los Angeles area and the vehicle later disappeared.  Decades later, after an exhaustive search, the truck was found in a barn outside the L.A. area by Galpin Ford, known for their incredible collection of historic hot rods and custom cars from the past.  The once famous truck was given a complete restoration and is a centerpiece in the Galpin collection.
